Experience and perspective
He approaches wound care as part of the patient’s larger medical picture—not as an isolated dressing or procedure.
Dr. Mohamad Zanbrakji is a board-certified acute care and trauma surgeon serving as Medical Director for Gateway Wound Care. His surgical background informs the review of complex, traumatic, post-surgical and non-healing wounds.
His experience spans diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis and chronic venous insufficiency ulcers, arterial and ischemic wounds, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, traumatic wounds, and other non-healing chronic wounds. His work includes surgical and non-surgical debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, and the selection and application of specialized wound products when clinically appropriate.
Dr. Zanbrakji approaches the wound as part of a larger medical picture. Circulation, infection risk, pressure, mobility, nutrition, chronic disease, caregiver support, and where the patient lives or is recovering can all affect treatment. He works with other licensed clinicians so those factors are addressed rather than treated as separate problems.
At Gateway, he leads clinical development, provider standards, complex wound review, and the expansion of Gateway’s clinical services across the region.
